A team based
where you’re going.
Fifteen years of designing journeys, one province.
Silk Road Xinjiang was founded in 2011 by a small group of guides and operators who believed Xinjiang deserved a different kind of visitor — travelers with time, curiosity, and a desire to meet the region on its own terms.
We’ve spent the years since then building the kind of team and network that only locals can: English-speaking guides who grew up in the valleys they walk, drivers who know which passes close in spring, partner families who open their homes for lunch.
We’re based in Kashgar and Urumqi, with coordinators in Beijing for visa and arrival logistics. We don’t run a call center. Every trip you book is designed and led by someone who knows the route personally.
Today, most of our travelers arrive by word of mouth. We’d like to keep it that way.
Four principles we won’t compromise on.
Local & Resident
Every team member lives in Xinjiang. We’re not a remote operator — we’re on the ground year-round.
Small by Choice
We deliberately cap our departures. We’d rather turn work away than compromise the experience.
Honest Pricing
No hidden fees, no commissions pushed on shopping stops. The price we quote is the price.
One Specialist
From first email to last transfer, one person owns your trip. No call-center handoffs.
The people who’ll design your trip.
We’re small. You’ll work with us directly — usually within a single thread of email — from the first call to your final transfer.

We’ll provide license documentation, proof of insurance, and bank reference details on request — a small thing, but we know it matters when you’re choosing who to trust with a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
